The 2024-2025 VCCFA Board Members will be elected June 2nd, 2024 at the IN-PERSON annual Member Meeting.  

The 2024-2025 Special Election Meeting will be held in-person at Mrs. Olson's Cafe, in Channel Islands Harbor at 6pm on Sunday June 2nd 2024

VCCFA Election Guidelines 

VCCFA 2024-2025 Election Deadlines 

Sunday April 7th 2024: Nominations Submitted

Nominations can be made by ANY MEMBER, regardless of voting status.  

You can nominate yourself or another member (ALL VCCFA MEMBERS can run for the BOARD of DIRECTORS, regardless of member voting status). 

All nominations will be confirmed by the nominee of their willingness to be on the BOARD of DIRECTORS.  Upon confirmation, the nominee will be placed on the ballot.

Sunday May 5th 2024: Ballots Distributed via email, and mailed to all members.

ALL VCCFA VOTING MEMBERS will receive a ballot.

Sunday June 2nd 2024:  All Ballots due.  Ballots by email are due by 5:30 pm.  Ballots filled out at in-person meeting will be due by 7pm. All ballots will be counted at the conclusion of the IN PERSON meeting, announced and certified, same day.


BOARD POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

PRESIDENT

Subject to such supervisory powers as the board may give to the chairman of the board, if any, and subject to the control of the board, the president shall be the general manager of the corporation and shall supervise , direct, and control the corporation’s activities, affairs, and officers.  The president shall preside at all members’ meetings and, in the absence of the chairman of the board, or if there is none, at all board meetings.  The president shall have other powers and duties as the board or bylaws may prescribe. 

VICE-PRESIDENT

In the absence or disability of the president, the vice-presidents, if any, in order of their rank as fixed by the board or, if not ranked, a vice-president designated by the board shall perform all duties of the president.  When so acting, a vice-president shall have all powers of and be subject to all restrictions on the president.  The vice-presidents shall have such other powers and perform such other duties as the board or the bylaws may prescribe. 

SECRETARY


(1) Book of Minutes

The secretary shall keep or cause to be kept, at the corporation’s principal office or such other place as the board may direct, a book of minutes of all meetings, proceedings, and actions of the board, of committees of the board, and of members’ meetings.  The minutes of meetings shall include the time and place of holding, whether the meeting was annual, regular, or special, how authorized, the notice given, the names of those present or represented at board and committee meetings, and the number of members represented at the members’ meetings.  The secretary shall keep or cause to be kept, at the principal office in California, a copy of the articles of incorporation and bylaws, as amended to date.


(2) Membership Records

The secretary shall keep or cause to be kept, at the corporation’s principal office or at a place determined by the board resolution, a record of the corporation’s members, showing each members name, address, and class of membership.


(3) Notices, Seal, and Other Duties

The secretary shall give, or cause to be given, notice of all meetings of members, of the board, and of committees of the board required by these bylaws to be given.  The secretary shall keep the corporate seal in safe custody and shall have such other powers and perform such other duties as the board or the bylaws may prescribe.

TREASURER 


(1) Books of Account

The chief financial officer shall keep and maintain, or cause to be kept and maintained, adequate and correct books, and accounts of the corporation’s properties and transactions.  The chief financial officer shall send or cause to be given to the members and directors such financial statements and reports as required by law, by these bylaws, or by the board to be given.  The books of account shall be open to inspection by any director at reasonable times.


(2) Deposit and Disbursement of Money and Valuables

The chief financial officer shall deposit, or cause to be deposited, all money and other valuables in the name and to the credit of the corporation with such depositories as the board may order, shall render to the president, chairman of the board, if any, and the board, when requested, an account of all transactions as chief financial officer and of the financial condition of the corporation, and shall have such other powers and perform such other duties as the board or the bylaws may prescribe.


(3) Bond 

If required by the board, the chief financial officer shall give the corporation a bond in the amount and with the surety or sureties specified by the board for faithful performance of the duties of the office and for restoration to the corporation of all ots books, papers, vouchers, money, and other property of every kind in the possession or under the control of the chief financial officer on his or her death, resignation, retirement, or removal from office.

CHANNEL ISLANDS REP

Represent the opinions, wants, and needs of the fishermen for the said Harbor.  Report to the board of any issues arising that warrant the attention of the board.  The harbor representative will possess the power to represent the VCCFA board to harbor administration, with the understanding such comments or questions will be reported back to the board, and no decision making can be made without the authorization of the Board.   Participation in Monthly Member Meetings is encouraged.  If unable to make the meeting, a report to the board may be submitted, communicating the status of the said harbor.

VENTURA  REP

Represent the opinions, wants, and needs of the fishermen for the said Harbor.  Report to the board of any issues arising that warrant the attention of the board.  The harbor representative will possess the power to represent the VCCFA board to harbor administration, with the understanding such comments or questions will be reported back to the board, and no decision making can be made without the authorization of the Board.   Participation in Monthly Member Meetings is encouraged.  If unable to make the meeting, a report to the board may be submitted, communicating the status of the said harbor.

PORT HUENEME REP

Represent the opinions, wants, and needs of the fishermen for the said Harbor.  Report to the board of any issues arising that warrant the attention of the board.  The harbor representative will possess the power to represent the VCCFA board to harbor administration, with the understanding such comments or questions will be reported back to the board, and no decision making can be made without the authorization of the Board.   Participation in Monthly Member Meetings is encouraged.  If unable to make the meeting, a report to the board may be submitted, communicating the status of the said harbor.

MEMBER AT LARGE  (up to 3)

Represent the opinions, wants, and needs of the fishermen generally encompassing all harbors.  Report to the board of any issues arising that warrant the attention of the board.   Participation in Monthly Member Meetings is encouraged.  If unable to make the meeting, a report to the board may be submitted, communicating the status of the said harbor.
